Spies 4 was a game of highs and lows. Candy and the Fatemaker a high, the 2 spy groups (and related twists) a low. I would probably never do 2 spy groups again, and certainly not 4v3, that was a mistake. Balancing out the # of Spies and Citizens is an extremely delicate task and I slightly missed the numbers for this game (later games corrected this error). Also this game had a little less preparation beforehand which I think showed a little (still more than 95% of mafia games though, lol). Really awesome characters + gameplay though. Was very impressed by a lot of smart moves. And a lot of the big characters got to the end.

Oh, Candy. <3 Sometimes I think that Citizen stories are the most encompassing and interesting. I used to think that the story revolved around the Spies and that interesting Spies were important. Now when casting, I exclusively focused on finding interesting, engaging Citizens and focusing on their story. They are much harder to establish than you'd think. Being a Citizen takes a lot of initiative, as well as putting up with dumber Citizens. Citizen stories are so compelling, even (and maybe especially) when they end in disaster.
Also this game had a lot of vulgarity I recall. Like way beyond the pale. 99.9% of the time I stay away and don't interfere, because I think the game (and life) should play out as it is without a nanny. I can't recall but I think I had to just give it a 'cool it' to some people.
This game had some Survivor people that just didn't work out. I had this huge Survivor following that just didn't transition to Spies like I had hoped. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.
It had a lot of amazing characters now that I flip through them though.
